Teacher Resource Trunks
The
THC invites Tennessee teachers, grades 7-12, to take part in its
dynamic teacher trunk program. Resource Trunks were designed for
use by teachers and students in secondary schools.
Each trunk provides
a wide variety of multi-media tools including classroom sets of
books, first-person testimonies, videos, CD-ROMs, maps, lesson plans
and student activities, as well as reference materials for teacher
and student use. These instructional aids invite a broader and deeper
understanding of Holocaust history and literature. They are intended
to promote critical thinking.
In conjunction
with the Mills Corporation and other private donors, the THC has
placed Teacher Resource Trunks in a number of school systems in
Tennessee. (See Stationary Locations. ) In addition, Teacher Trunks
may be obtained on a loan basis, for one month periods, from the
Commission office.
For trunk information
and applications contact: stacey.l.knight@vanderbilt.edu
(Please supply: Teacher's Name, School Name, School Address, Work
and Home Telephone, Fax Number and email address. Be sure to provide
date preferences for borrowing.)

"I want
this trunk to have something for everybody. When you have a group
of girls who chat, chat, chat all together, and give them books
on the Holocaust, if they like it, 25 more kids will read it. One
way to get things taught is to get kids excited," she explained.
"I have students who have graduated from college, buy me books
about the Holocaust or tape movies about the Holocaust on the History
Channel. It fills me with a great deal of pride because it tells
me I've given them a taste of the passion that I have."
